Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
